Here are the words from lovely Hein and Hanri. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.
Without a shadow of a doubt my favorite time of the year is, Christmas! It is a special time of the year, where you celebrate family and friends.
Nothing has given me more joy this year than sharing one of my wife and I’s favorite Christmas traditions with our students in grade 7, 8, 9, High School Foundation Class and High School Bridging class
The tradition being none other than baking Christmas Cookies!
My wife worked till very late the night before to ensure that all preparations were ready for the big baking class! But we were ready… To start spreading the joys of Christmas.
The students came into the Cafeteria with smiles gleaming, showing their excitement in their laughter and enthusiasm while rolling and pressing the cookies.
The baking was really messy but Maple Leaf truly has amazing students, who stayed after the class to help clean the cooking area. We are very proud of these students for showing such amazing pride in their school by helping their fellow man.
We were pleasantly surprised by the creative manner in which the students decorated their cookies.
It was a so much fun. All the students enjoyed making the cookies so much. Each and every person showed the sparkle of the Christmas spirit by sharing all the instruments needed to make the cookies in a friendly and caring manner.
Lets not forget the eating… I tasted a few of the cookies and yes they were truly delicious! The look on each and every students face the first time they tasted the sweet Christmas cookie after they decorated their cookies made all the hard work feel very worth while.
We would like to thank our ESL director Alan Wang, Doris and the General Affairs department for helping us set up the cafeteria in a festive manner.
All the staff from the Cafeteria thank you for being friendly and helpful.
ESL teacher Lily thank you for coming to help the students.
And last but not least my wife Mrs M thank you for all your hard work in preparing all the cookies.
We truly hope that baking Christmas cookies will now become a new tradition at Maple Leaf in the future.
Merry Christmas to all the Maple Leafers! May you have a blessed and festive Christmas!
Seasons Greetings
Hanri & Hein Maree
